Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor) is a fan-shaped, banded polypore fungus with a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese Kampo practice. Its composition includes polysaccharopeptides (PSK and PSP) and prebiotic fibres.
Traditional Use
Turkey Tail has a documented history in Chinese and Japanese traditional practice, where compounds derived from it (including PSK and PSP) were studied and used in Japan. This reflects historical and research use of isolated extracts, not the Lifecykel flavouring product.
What the Research Looks At
Published research on Turkey Tail has examined its polysaccharopeptide and prebiotic fibre content in laboratory and clinical settings, exploring interactions with immune cell activity and gut bacteria populations. This research uses isolated, concentrated extracts — a different preparation to a food-based flavouring product, and its findings shouldn't be read across to any Lifecykel product.
Turkey Tail as a Flavouring
Lifecykel's Turkey Tail product is a flavouring extract for adding to drinks as part of a routine. We don't make claims that our flavouring strengthens immune defences, reduces inflammation, or improves digestion.
Safety Considerations
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication, speak with a healthcare professional before adding any new mushroom flavouring to your routine.
